Digital literacy...
As for many who got in to this e-learning course, this is my first blog. In the mornings I like to listen national radio, where time to time critics, writers, reviewers read their blogs about the various situations in the Lithuania. I don’t know how came the word “blog” and what does it mean, but in Lithuanian language according to our grammatical rules, usually we add just endings to the international words, so, we have the word “blog’as”, which in Lithuanian means “bad”. At the beginning I thought: “what the hell is this “bad”?”. And now I need to write by myself this “bad”…  Back to courses. As for many courses I expected that this course will be only listening. I tripped and I was “catched up”.
What it is new – it takes time to accept it, at least for me. Because before acceptation I need to know everything about it, I need to trust to this accepting thing. There many things that I am pessimist, while I thing that I am realist.  Maybe therefore I write blogs not from the beginning of courses.
Digital literacy – for me association with the facebook, twitter and other social activities. I don’t have time for it and don’t use them, though I have own accounts, but I use just for information and little bit for curiosity.
While Wikipedia and other web information I use a lot, mainly for the educational purposes. The information on CC was very useful. While in spring I took part in the seminar, where was explained that in EU is legislation that for the education it is allowed to use any information without permission, of course, in proper presentation.
The ownership in many cases is very discussing topic, except lessons (presentations) in Lithuania, where it is own teacher business – you must make video by yourself, to design by yourself and to post it by yourself – it is good – the ownership problem is solved. Do you want help – give money… Teachers invest a lot of time and effort doing everything by themselves. Probably therefore many of us don’t want to share their own results and information free. I hope it will change in near future, especially after e-learning.

  1. Blog is a combination of the words web + log. I hope you can now see the potential of teachers and universities sharing material. It can save a lot of time so that teachers can work more with teaching rather than producing material that hundreds of other teachers have already produced. When someone cites our research it is seen as a merit so if someone uses my material and credits me according to CC then that is also a merit.
